Class 2A Storylines

Storylines/Questions I have going into the season......

How will Eagleton fare in it's first season? This team won't be on alot of people's radar, but I feel like Eagleton is a program that could have alot of potential and is led by a HC that's widely respected in coaching circles (Stephen Childs). Not expecting instant but in 3-4 years, I feel like this team could be a regular in the playoffs.

Is East Robertson the favorite in Region 3-2A? Coach Brooks didn't waste any time at East Robertson, going 11-2 and setting a school record for wins in the process. The Indians do face tough competition within their region with teams like Smith Co, Trousdale Co and Monterey,  but with the Groves Brothers all back you have to like their chances.

Can Smith Co overcome losing Kaden Powell to Beech? Smith Co took a big when starting quarterback Kaden Powell transferred to Beech. With him,  Smith Co was in the conversation of teams expected to contend for a state championship. Without him, Smith Co is still a really solid team that runs the ball well, but is that enough to get them to Chattanooga?

Step back for Fayetteville, step forward for Marion Co? Fayetteville has had a great run the last 3 years, going a combined 41-5 in Class 1A with a state championship to show for it. However, the Tigers are moving up to Class 2A this season and also lost a big chunk of their production. Fayetteville also is looking at a tough non-region slate, but it's the kind of schedule that gets you ready for the playoffs.

Marion County however seems to be trending up instead of down. MC returns alot of starters from last season and seems primed to make a deep run. They also play a nomad region slate that is solid, though not nearly as challenging. Their match-up with Fayetteville should be for the Region 4-2A title.

Region 5-2A: Will it be Waverly or Mt. Pleasant that claims the region? Waverly and Mt. Pleasant have alot of things in common: both won their region last year, going 9-2 and losing to the eventually runner-up in their respective playoffs ( Mt. Pleasant to Riverside, Waverly to East Nashville). Another thing they have I'm common is their considered the frontrunner for the region title. This is the kind of game you'd like to see Week 10 or 11, but it's Week 3 . This game might come down to whoever is playing cleaner football at the start of the season

The Region of Death ( Region 6-2A), who emerges as the champion? If your looking for a league that will be a death struggle every week, 6-2A is the Region your looking for. Huntingdon and Riverside look to be the favorites at this point, but Milan, Peabody and Adamsville figure to be a factor as well. A good team from this region is going to miss the playoffs
