Coaches on the Rise

In this post we look at 10 Coaches that have less than 10 years of experience, but have been very successful early in their careers as a Head Coach......

Shane Jacobs ( Peabody, 93-16 with 3 State Championships): Jacobs is easily the most successful of the coaches on the list, compiling a .853 winning percentage in his 8 seasons with 3 consecutive state championships from 2018-2020. Peabody has failed to advance to the quarterfinals only once with Jacobs at the helm

Randall Boldin ( Whitwell & Waverly, 61-15 with 1 State Chammpionahip): Boldin hit the ground running at Whitwell, going 11-2 in his first season at Whitwell and took them to even greater heights next season, winning the 2018 Class A title. Boldin parlayed that success into a move to AA Waverly where he has won 35 games in 4 seasons.

Thomas Osteen ( Marshall Co., 82-30): Osteen doesnt have a state title to his name, but he has racked an impressive 82-30 record with 3 semifinal appearances in 9 seasons. You can always count on Osteen to get the most out of the talent he has every season.

Wes Stone ( South Pittsburg, 19-5 with 1 State Championship): Stone inherited a tough in 2021 when he had to take over for his predecessor when he left in the middle of the season. Stone showed he was up to the challenge by winning a state championship. Stone followed that up with a 9-3 season in 2022. His last name may not be Grider, but it looks like SP has their guy for a long time

Paul Derrick ( Nolensville, 43-20): Derrick found himself the HC in 2018 after Will Hester left to take a job out of state after 2 seasons. Derrick has had no problem, going 43-20 in 5 Seasons at Nolensville with a region championship (2022) to his name. The Knights have advance to the 2nd round every season under Derrick

Adam Caine ( Sequatchie Co. & Upperman, 77-22): In just 8 seasons as a HC, Caine has the distinction of already taking 2 programs to the semifinals. Caine won the region title his 4 first years at Upperman, something that has never been done at the school and has made the playoffs every year as a head coach

Chris Smith ( Germantown, Haywood & Bartlett, 79-24): Smith turned Germantown around quickly in his 4 seasons at the schools, going 23-2 in his last 2 years there. Smith then went Haywood and made them one of the dominant programs in Class 4A, going 48-8 in his 4 years there with a State Runner-Up finish in 2020.

Chuck Gentry (Lebanon, 43-25);  When Chuck Gentry arrived at Lebanon in 2018, the Blue Devils were a mess. Lebanon had gone without a winning season since the 2006 season when they went 6-5. Gentry got to work quickly, going 8-3 in his 2nd season, giving a taste of things to come. In 2021, Lebanon went 11-2 and advance to the quarterfinals, winning their first league crown since 1990 and tying a school record for wins in a season

Chase Brooks ( East Robertson, 11-2): In his first season, Brooks set a school record for wins in a season, leading ER to 11-2 season and a trip to the quarterfinals. With plenty of talent coming back, plenty of expectations for a program that hasnt had alot oi success prior to Parks arrival

Jamaal Stewart ( East Nashville & Centennial, 24-12): In just 3 seasons , Stewart has already made 2 trips to the title game with East Nashville. Now with Centennial, he looks to do the same, The Cougars are coming off a 8-3 season. With a move down to 5A this year, Centennial could made some noise with Stewart at the helm
