Week 3 Review

Class 5A & 6A
Brentwood 43 Hendersonville 6: The Bruins continued the hot start to their season, dominating the previously undefeated Commandos. Brentwood was led by QB Baylor Hayes with 180 yards passing, next up is a date with 5A perennial power Henry County.

Antioch 18 Cane Ridge 15: Antioch broke their 22 game winless streak in style, besting rival Cane Ridge for the first time in over a decade. The win sends a message that the Bears are moving in the right direction under 2nd year HC Devin Arnold.

Bradley Central 21 Maryville 13: The Bears got a big monkey off their back, defeating Maryville for the first time in 14 meetings. The win signals a potential shift in 6A in East TN. Bradley was led by QB Kaleb Martin, who accounted for over 300 yards of total offense.

Oak Ridge 35 Powell 21: Oak Ridge rode a dominant 2nd half en route to their first win over Powell since 2020. The victory also represents their first 2-0 since 2018.

Centennial 29 Independence 23 (OT): Centennial overcame a 14 point deficit and nearly 150 yards in penalties to knock off Independence last Friday. The win moves the Cougars to 3-0 as they head into region play.

Class 3A & 4A
Dyersburg 24 Covington 0: In a match-up of 2 elite 3A programs, Dyersburg look dominant in it's win over Covington. Dyersburg dominated in the trenches, rushing for over 250 yards while holding Covington to under 60.

Hardin County 48 South Gibson 18: The Tigers used a balanced attack to rack up nearly 480 yards of total offense in a dominant victory over South Gibson. The win gives then an early leg up in Region 6-4A.

Upperman 14 Macon County 7: The Bees used a dominant defense and a steady ground game to improve to 3-0, 1-0 in Region 4-4A. Bronzden Chaffin paced Upperman with 193 yards of total offense (71 passing, 122 rushing)

Carter 49 Gatlinburg-Pittman 29: Carter used a high octane offense, racking up 500 yards of total offense in their upset of the Highlanders. Isaiah Monday led Carter, throwing for 307 yards and 3 touchdowns. 

Sequatchie County 27 Watertown 21: The Indians used big plays in the passing game to remain unbeaten on the season and passing their first big test in league play. Sam Evitts led Sequatchie with 327 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. 

Class 1A & 2A
East Robertson 20 Monterey 7: East Robertson got off to a good start in region play Friday night, emerging victorious over Monterey. Isaiah Groves led ER with 201 yards rushing. On the defensive side, Zach Groves was a constant disruption, racking up 5.5 tackles for loss.

Mt. Pleasant 51 Waverly 35: Mt. Pleasant used a big play offense to rack up 51 points through 3 quarters en route to a win over the Tigers. Mt. Pleasant was able to slow down Waverly's high scoring offense and was paced by Darien Meza's 239 yards of total offense.

Moore County 45 Eagleville 20: The Raiders got off to a good start in Region 5-1A, using a fantastic effort from QB Dawson White (177 yards passing, 179 yards rushing) to propel them to victory.
