Week 4 Preview

List of the top games across the state for Week 4:

Alcoa (3-0) @ Greeneville (2-0): 2 of the best in East TN regardless of class do battle on Thursday Night. Both teams have been challenged early on against teams in 6A. Since this is a early game, I'm picking Alcoa over Greeneville.

Henry County (3-0) @ Brentwood (3-0): The first of what should be two great games involving large schools from Middle & West TN. Brentwood has gotten to 3-0 on the strength of its defense and QB Baylor Hayes whereas Henry County has used a physical run game to shorten games for its defense.

Riverdale (2-1) @ Germantown (3-0): The 2nd marquee Middle-West match-up. Germantown town represents the 3rd straight top tier opponent Riverdale has faced where Germantown escaped by the skin of its teeth last week with a 14-13 win against crosstown rival Houston. Both teams have some things in common with a solid defense and good QB play.

Knoxville West (3-0) @ Maryville (2-1): This game is big for Maryville for 2 reasons- A chance for revenge for last season and avoiding their first losing streak since 2000. It won't be easy however, West's defense seems to still be formidable with an offense that is improving while Maryville is down at least 3 starters on offense.  Look for a low scoring game.

Centennial (3-0) @ Lawson (3-0): This is the week we find out how far along Lawson is in the first year of the program. They should be commended for starting 3-0, but Centennial represents a big step up from the competition they have faced so far.

Smith County (3-0) @ Macon County (2-1): A week after a hard fought loss to Upperman, the schedule doesnt get any easier for Macon as Smith County rolls into town. This will be a good old fashioned small town football game, both teams will rely on a stingy defense and strong running game as a path to victory. Smith County is searching for its first 4-0 start since 2017.

Stone Memorial (3-0) @ White Co. (2-1): A crucial Region 4-4A takes place when these teams faceoff. Stone is seeking their 2nd consecutive 4-0 start, White County is looking to rebound rebound after a 42-35 loss to hated rival Cookeville. Speaking of the Cavs, they are the team that links these teams together,  both teams were close and I expect this game will be as well.

South Pittsburg (3-0) @ Sequatchie County (3-0): Its a battle of 1A v. 3A when the Pirates travel to Sequatchie. It won't be SP's first go at a larger school, they bear Franklin County 28-14 in Week 2. The Indians are seeking their first 4-0 start since 2016.

Cleveland (2-1) @ Farragut (2-1): Big game for both teams as they are looking to bounce back after losses in Week 3. Farragut's loss to West was expected,  but Cleveland losing to Walker Valley was surprising, especially in the context of how poorly the offense played.

Shelbyville (2-1) @ Columbia (2-1): You never want to say a game decides a region championship this early in the season, but up to this point, these are clearly the 2 best teams in Region 5-5A. Both have a common opponent in Marshall County ( Shelbyville won 35-28, Columbia lost 16-0)

Hardin Valley @ Knoxville Halls
